Sheila S. Hula
President

“Aways looking for the next big challenge” – has been Sheila Scott Hula’s professional philosophy for the last 25+ years.

Hula Sport Communications is the latest iteration of a career that has spanned every major communications platform.

Hula is best known as the publisher of Around the Rings, the world’s most respected source of Olympic news, until its sale in May 2021. Before that she was the award-winning executive producer of CNN TravelGuide.

For more than 25 years, Hula and her husband Ed were familiar faces among the international press corps covering the Olympics, World Cup, and too many other championships to count. Whatever the event, she could often be found with a camera, recording many of world sport’s most famous personalities and important moments.

Hula joined her husband and his fledgling newsletter in May 1997, where she remained until January 2022. During that time she oversaw operations for thirteen Winter and Summer Olympics, dozens of world championships and World Cups, and two dozen or so bids. Hula also produced dozens of print and online special edition publications that helped set the standards that made Around the Rings the influential publication that it is today.

Prior to taking the reins at ATR, Hula was the executive producer of CNN TravelGuide, one of the network’s most popular and profitable programs. She started at CNN as a researcher hired for one week of vacation relief. That week turned into 16 years and a career that spanned the globe.

Hula is a native of Helena, Montana, and still identifies as Montanan through and through. She is the author of The Queen of Montana, an illustrated serial novel set for releas late 2022 or early 2023.
